Disney World has acres and acres of brush-covered land. One area that requires special attention is the brush-covered area behind the Magic Kingdom, an area that receives hot debris from the nightly fireworks display over Cinderella’s Castle. Hot fireworks debris can spark brush fires so the fire department sends out apparatus on fire prevention patrols during and immediately after the display to catch fires in their infancy and extinguish them. There is also a special irrigation system installed that drenches the area in water to reduce the risk of fires from falling fireworks debris.
The fireworks are prepared, assembled, transported, and fired off by specially trained pyrotechnical technicians, many of whom are off-duty firefighters.
